The corner inside the border isn't seamless
The corner is seamless
Example project 1: exterior
Victorian pathway tiles 50x50mm thickness 5mm, assembled sheets with border.
We lay new, fresh concrete as a foundation for new tiles. We create a base of at least 70mm to prevent any problems or cracks in the future. We make sure the surface is completely level, which is very important for Victorian tiles. We never lay new tiles on top of old existing tiles as such practice, albeit common, is not professional.
We lay out sheeted tiles symmetrically, each side with equal distance to ensure the best result. Next we lay the border around the checkerboard making sure all corners are ideal. This requires meticulous work and plenty of experience.
This is the final result. Ideal tiled floor with identical corners on both upper and lower part.
Example project 2: interior
Victorian hallway tiles 50x50mm thickness 5mm, assembled sheets with border.
First, the plywood has to be firmly screwed to the floor so it’s completely flat and doesn’t move. Since wood is more subject to movement than concrete it’s very important to use a durabase ditra matt, which is specifically designed to absorb movement and prevent tiles from cracking in the future.
Next step is to prepare the whole surface for mosaic tiles. First, we need to measure the floor and then lay the tiles symmetrically so the space on both sides is the same. It’s important to lay the inner design first and the border later.
When the tiles have been evenly laid we can start installing the border. The border tiles always have to be cut on site as the length of each side of the floor might be very different. When that’s done we proceed to grout and seal the tiles.
